Oven won't heat or stops heating during cleaning cycle? The high-limit safety switch cuts power when temperatures exceed safe limits. Moderate DIY fix.
No local repair persons would tackle the jo. I checked all electrical contacts, voltages, etc, no problems. Contacted Appliancepartspros and discussed problem. they recommended new control board, power relay board, downdraft fan board, and high limit switch AFTER I had installed an oven temp sensor. Process of elimination with new parts FINALLY isolated the problem. Now working fine with ability to return not needed parts.Nadene Freeman was very helpful throughout the time consuming, while... I read this is a common problem with Kitchenaid stoves. The most common part to replace is the thermal fuse on the back of the stove. I replaced it and the stove still didn't work. I learned through the help of this website that there is a second fuse that may have blown also. It was difficult to find through the help of one of your staff members I located it in the front instrument panel of the stove. I ordered the recommended part that had failed and installed it today. The stove is... Read more

This time delay fuse protects the appliance from overheating by opening the circuit when temperatures exceed safe limits. It's a direct-replacement electrical safety fuse used in heating circuits to help prevent damage and fire risk. What it does:
Actual problem was due to a poor connection from the circuit board and HV transformer, over time this poor / loose connection began to arc causing enough heat to physically melt the connector and the contact to the thermistor. the problem was obvious but I still followed procedures to check all the components.*** NOTE*** ALWAYS UNPLUG DEVICE FIRST, WITH MICROVAVES, ALWAYS, ALWAYS, DISCHARGE HV CAPICITOR, IT CAN KILL YOU! just take your time testing components, following your electronic... Microwave won't power up or shuts off after seconds? Failed thermostats cause intermittent operation. Test for continuity—straightforward repair.
Removed OTR microwave. Checked the thermostat switches while power was applied with a DVM. Noticed that when a certain set of wires was moved the slightest bit the microwave would power up. Traced the wires to the thermostat switch for the cavity. Noticed that where one (of two) Faston terminals was crimped to the thermostat switch was black. (should be copper colored). That is a sure sign of arcing from a loose connection. Since the specification for the switch was to trip at 248F degrees... Read more
