Took it apart and saw that the the bearings were worn down completely.. The front outer tub was cracked and leaking. We ordered both pieces to the outer tub and a new pulley. My washer is running like new now.. A little advice.. Do not over load your washer.. Maytag is a great brand but overloading them because there great washers, will wear down the parts inside.. Tore entire machine down to get to wash drum. Found it had a broken "spider" which is common with most front load machines. The drum is stainless steel but the spider is cast aluminum and it does not do well when exposed to laundry soap. It was pretty much disintegrated as a matter of fact. The bearing is molded into the outer tub. Th process is not complicated but does take about two hours. The most difficult part of the process was filing information on opening the top of the washer. Some information says to use a putty knife an push in to release the catch but on the version we have you need to unbolt two sheetmetal screws in the back, pull forward on the top and lift up. Posted my problem on APP's Question and Answer Forum. Was concerned about liquid trapped in top and bottom plastic rings of SS laundry basket when I removed it.
