This is a white plastic control knob that attaches to the timer or cycle selector shaft on the dryer's control panel. It allows you to select the desired drying cycle or timer setting. Replace this knob if it is cracked, broken, or if the shaft connection has worn out so the knob spins without engaging the timer.
Found the part through appliancepartspros.com The part was the cheapest of several web sites. although shipping for such a small part was steep ($7.95 If I was purchasing bigger parts or heavier parts..the flat rate cost would be a bargain. Washer won't spin or drain? Error code E47? The door lock assembly often causes these issues. This moderately easy repair typically takes 30 minutes.
I ran a diagnostics check on the washing machine and came up with the error code E47 -Board thinks the door PTC circuit is open in spin. The washer thought the door was open and would not finish the spin. I was left with a washer full of very wet clothes. This repair was SO extremely easy. I had to cut the old agitator out with an oscillating saw in order to access the agitator drive. This is the second Maytag (MVWC 565) I have had to do this to. I first tried removing it by sliding straps under the agitator then then using a jack to pull it loose which did not work either time. One suggestion I have would be to remove debris from tub as you cut in order to prevent it from dropping from the inner tub into the outer tub. Read more
