Washer Agitator
Genuine Whirlpool part
By: Whirlpool
Part Number: W11550891

Fix a washer that won't agitate or clean clothes properly. This agitator replacement restores wash action. Moderate DIY repair, requires removing bolt.

Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Agitator drive failed   W J. • Panama City Beach , FL • February 26, 2023

I had to cut the old agitator out with an oscillating saw in order to access the agitator drive. This is the second Maytag (MVWC 565) I have had to do this to. I first tried removing it by sliding straps under the agitator then then using a jack to pull it loose which did not work either time. One suggestion I have would be to remove debris from tub as you cut in order to prevent it from dropping from the inner tub into the outer tub. Read more

Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You My front loading washing machine would not drain.   Meryl L. • Fort Thomas , AZ • October 26, 2020

So, Saturday, the washer wouldn't drain, yes, I tried the Drain/Spin cycle. So I took the clothes out, rinsed them out twice in the laundry sink and dried them. After a quick Google search, I came to the conclusion that the pump was bad and ordered a pump, $125. Over the course of the next four days, expecting the new pump on Thursday, I baled out the washer, pulled it out from the wall and propped up the front (it's HEAVY), removed the front access panel, removed the drain inlet and outlet... All's well that ends well, but the getting there was a bit of a pain. The web site suggests 3 possible causes for my problem (incl. the burning smell). I began with the first two since they were inexpensive compared to the motor, which was the third cause (and also the least often cause). There is no way to visibly tell if the motor is bad or not.
