We knew at least one door hinge cable assembly or hinge spring was broken (the door started falling down rapidly and became heavy to close) so we ordered two of each since we had read to go ahead and replace the damaged items on both sides. Ordered the entire control panel. Took only 30 minutes to replace. Once I received the new part, it was obvious how easy it would be to replace. A thin putty knife and a little care not to damage the surrounding surface was all that was needed. Read more

Appliance Parts Pros had parts diagrams that allowed me to see that the model of my LG refrigerator had an insert cartridge that slid up into the door that was referred to as a door closer. I'm just a DIY-er so I clicked through the pictures of the part and saw also a video where they described the symptoms and went through the fix. First, water and electricity don't mix, so make sure to unplug your refrigerator before beginning this repair - it shouldn't take more than an hour, so you shouldn't have to worry about spoilage. I asked them to give me the part numbers...at which point he said..."you won't find them"! Replaced defrost sensor in freezer compartment, if you are handy this is a do it yourself job. The cover in the freezer section just pops out not tools needed. You will need a few small zip ties and some cutters to remove the old zip ties. Take a picture were the old sensor was before removing and reinstall in the same place. First I replaced the filter thinking it was the problem, but that was not the case. Next was replace water supply valve at the back of the refrigerator. It was very easy. The only thing that was in question was how to get the refrigerator side line off of the existing valve. There is a plastic slide clip that you remove and pull the line out and press the line back into the port it came out of. It was a very simple project and took about 20 minutes. Read more
