Clothes not getting clean or washplate spinning freely? Stripped plastic splines prevent agitation. DIY fix in 15 minutes—remove cap and bolt, lift out.
The plastic ridges on the inside of the washplate were stripped. New washplate solved the problem. This washer is barely 3 years old, so I guess I can expect to be doing this again, but better than buying a new washer. Read more

Color: White. This washer lint filter is also known as the upper agitator.
Bought a new upper agitator/filter housing. Just slide it over the bottom agitator housing and put the cap from the old one on the new one. Takes maybe 3 minutes to do. The screen inside the lower part of the housing/filter holds it snug to the bottom housing and does not fly off during the spin cycle. Works great. Read more

Fix a slipping or freely spinning top agitator with this upper auger. Restores the ratcheting motion that pulls clothes down. Quick 3-minute repair.
I have a 25 year old Kenmore washer that works well and didn't want to get a new washer as they don't make them like they used to. Upon removing the top cap of the agitator and doing an inspection, the agitator dogs were completely broken into pieces. Due to age we decided to replace the lower and upper agitator along with the agitator auger dogs repair kit. All new parts and works fine. On inspection of old parts, we probably could have gotten away with just a $5 repair for the plastic... Read more
This cam assembly kit includes the components that allow the agitator's upper portion to ratchet in one direction during the wash cycle. The cams engage and release to create the back-and-forth agitation motion that cleans clothes. Replace this kit if the agitator spins freely in both directions without gripping, makes clicking or grinding noises, or no longer agitates clothes effectively.
Simple by using 7/16 socket with long extension to remove the bolt and pull the whole agitator out and clean them. Put back in together with new parts. It works fine now. Read more

If your washer won't agitate or makes grinding/squealing sounds, the agitator coupling may have failed. Moderate DIY repair requiring force to remove old part.
Removing the aluminum hub was ridiculous. this part should come with the rubber piece that is directly below it. removing that rubber piece is essential to the repair and is quite a battle to get off. To remove the aluminum hub ( no fasteners just a friction fit) I tried a 2 arm automotive wheel puller which pulled the arms through the aluminum with out budging the part. I finally resorted to using a Sawsall to cut a vertical slit into the hub down to the shaft so I could split it and get it... Read more

I had to replace the drive shaft and the lower agitator. The motor coupling was also worn out. The repair was challenging because I had to rebuild the gear box.
