Tore down transmission gear case of my Kitchenaid Professional 600 stand mixer and replaced worn components to include front and rear sleeve bearing, worm gear thrust bearing, worm follower gear, drive shaft retaining clip, center shaft o-ring, and dowl pin. I pulled the unit away from the wall and noticed black dust on the floor. Unplugged the unit, turned off the water. Removed back panel (about 10 screws with Torx heads) and noticed the belt was off, the drive pulley was loose and wobbling on the shaft, black dust all over the inside. Belt was worn along one side. Upon removal of the lower inspection panel on the front of the machine, my 20 year old son thought the motor was bad by the smell. But he did discover what turned out to be the belt tensioner pulley laying inside the machine. Replaced the tension pulley assembly, drum rollers, drum roller axles, belt, and drum glides while I had the dryer disassembled. I encountered a high pitched squeal and loud rumbling. I figured the sounds were likely the rollers despite not matching other sounds on the repair videos for other dryers. Two years ago replaced all four roller assemblies of affected side. Problem recently reoccured on the opposite side. Replaced all four roller assemblies on that side. Entire repair took about twenty minutes. Read more

Order set of drum rollers. My dryer required four. As long as I was opening up the dryer, dryer, 10 years old, I wanted to replace all of them. Also ordered new belt for Sam reason. Found full manual online. Disassembled dryer, about 20 screws. Replaced rollers, although only one was squeaky. Put it all back together. Took about 3 hours. Read more

Found the belt was thrown off. Reinstalled the belt and when doing so felt that the pulley was wobbling on the barrel shaft. Took the pulley off and noticed the inside of the pulley was worn badly and needed to be replaced. When received the new pulley and belt easily installed and was working like new. Read more

Thanks to the excellent videos along with my experience as an aircraft component mechanic, I was able to replace the a number of major parts, including the armature, field assembly, brushes and 3 gears. Took my time, got it back together and set the motor speed on the first try. I'm very happy, because now my wife is very happy too. She's had that mixer for over 30 years, and now it runs like new.
