There was a horrible screeching noise coming from the washer, and upon inspection I found that the retaining nut that attaches the cam to the machine was either improperly tightened to begin with or had worked itself loose causing the cam to wobble and the belt to work down the cam. This fridge has had a problem of ice building up around evaporator coil in fresh food side. Wife (she HATES this thing) says it's done this from day one; 10 years. Put in new lid lock. This is my second one in 1 year. Whirlpool suggested I leave it loose so that if somebody did try and force it open, it wouldn't break it. This lid lock has 4 wires and cannot be bypassed. Read more

Everything was easy to replace. Did it all by hand except the access cover that needed a socket wrench. The door didn't close that well at first. I had to wait a couple of days for the rubber pieces to fit into the door frame. Read more

We took out all of the parts and wiped them down to remove all of the old grease. The parts were reassembled with the new worm follower gear and added new grease. We had a problem because the new worm follower gear didn't slide down all the way easily, so we had to use a rubber mallet to get it all the way down the planetary shaft. Read more

Common theme on the blogs was thermistors and or defrost heater/thermostat. Ran self-diagnostics which turned on defrost heater which was fine.
