Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Door clicking, door not closing easily   Mike K. • Broadview Heights , OH • January 27, 2020

Replaced both sets of door cams on my Kenmore Elite Refrigerator. The most important thing to know is that you DO NOT have to remove the doors from the refrigerator to replace BOTH sets of cams. You just have to remove the lower grill which is a snap fit (I also turned off the water and unplugged the unit). My fridge has an ice and water dispenser where the water and electrical lines go through the cams on the left side. Be sure to order the correct parts as the cam holes on the freezer side... Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Whirlpool lsr7233eq0 washing machine was leaking out the bottom   Jerald F. • Laud Lakes , FL • April 05, 2015

I had previously replaced the pump about 1 year ago. That was not the problem. Still leaked the same way - intermittently, but always in the center of the washer onto the floor. None of the hoses were leaking - no evidence of corrosion or water mineral residue at any of the hose fittings. So, it must have been something else. I studied the parts diagram for the washer tub assembly and concluded the source of the leak almost had to be the outer tub's Centerpost Gasket. It was really the... Read more

Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Electric dryer ceased to produce heat   Glenn M. • South Windsor , CT • September 23, 2016

Our 25-year-old Whirlpool dryer abruptly stopped producing heat, though it was otherwise running normally. The unit had never required service of any type and we were reluctant to replace it. After confirming that no circuit breakers had tripped, I reviewed the Whirlpool and AppliancePartsPro websites and concluded that the most likely causes of the problem were a failed heating element and/or thermal fuse. I ordered both (they arrived in two business days), installed them and the dryer... Read more

Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You The water valve inlet on our maytag refrigerator was faulty so water was dripping into our freezer's ice tray and turning into a huge ice block   Crystal B. • Royse City , TX • September 09, 2014

Living in Texas it is hot all the time, even in fall, so our family loves our cold filtered water and ice. We woke up one morning with water all over the floor in the kitchen. It looked like it was coming from our freezer through the ice dispenser. We turned off the water shut off valve and removed what was now a giant block of ice instead of an ice dispenser from our freezer to melt in the sink. Since the dryer was 24 years old I opted to replace all the possible problem components, instead of just the bad one. The parts aren't that expensive and do to their age I figured it was worth it to avoid having to go back into the dryer in a few months. The repair was surprisingly easy and went pretty much as the video instruction AppliancePartPros provided with one exception. Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Broken refridgerator interior plastic parts causing issues   Jim M. • Portland , OR • September 28, 2025

Looked up parts based on fridge model number, watched videos, and replaced parts using just a few tools... easy. Parts came quick, well packaged. After 16 years, plastic parts deteriorate and break. The fridge was operating fine, but the drawers and covers were failing. Much cheaper to replace a few parts ($$-$$$) than buy a new fridge ($$$$). The new parts matched up exactly to old ones. Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Saved $$$ doing it myself   Bob C. • Sacremento , CA • June 12, 2014

I have a 12 year old Kenmore Elite washer. One day, suddenly, I heard a grinding noise and the washer abruptly stopped. I called a repair service and was told it could be the bearings in the drum of this front-load washer, or it could be the washer's drain pump, which automatically shuts down when the drain pump fails. The repairman said, if it is the drum, it wasn't worth fixing for the age of this washer. It would cost $85 for him to come out and diagnose the problem, then if I decide to fix... Read more
