I noticed when we would run washer water would stay in tub. Pump would hum but not pump water out. Layed washer on its belly . Pump was at bottom of washer. Easy access . Removed 3 screws,2 wires , & 2 hose clamps. Didn't have to call Maytag Repair man. Easy Read more

Replaced pump. All components are accessible from the front of the machine. You have to remove two screws in the back that hold on the top cover, then slide the cover back. This will allow access to the screws that hold on the control panel. Replaced the water valve. Easy repair. The repair video was spot-on. Tools needed: Slip joint pliers for removing and attaching the hoses and moving the hose clip. 5/16 nut driver. Phone to take a picture so I could get the wires put back right. Shut off the water and unplug from power. Remove the hoses. I just wanted to put my experience here for all to see. I have a Maytag Neptune, MAH5500BWW, one of the original ones. I bought it back in 2002 and it has done many many loads of wash faithfully. So when the bearings started to get loud I thought it best to replace them, the seal kit and the belt. I did my research as best I could and decided to order the OEM parts from an appliance supplier. The instructions that came with the parts did not match the project I was doing, so those were not helpful. I looked up videos on YouTube and those all made it look way easier than it actually was. From what I could tell at that point, I wouldn't need to dismantle anything. I would simply be able to remove the gasket and put the new one in its place. Removed washer lid, then upper front panel with controls. Popped off the front retaining ring, then pushed the boot into the washer area after detaching the detergent hose and LED light from the boot. Detached the door lock mechanism. Removed the front panel with the door. Then removed main retaining ring after loosening with Phillips head screwdriver. Removed the old boot. I removed the wire and rubber seal in order to get to the door lacth then I unscrewed the three screws popped out the latch put the screws and the rubber and wire back and tested the washer. The door now locks and I can wash again...YEPPPPY Read more
