• Will not drain

I drained the pump and removed coins etc from pump drain screen. This did not solve the problem, so I called Slagers, our local appliance store in Iowa City. The repair man came out two days later in the AM. He drained the pump again and checked the codes--he had to use our wireless internet because Sprint would not work from our house to determine the error code problem. He said it was the pump. Disassembled and confirmed the clutch was bad. Also noticed a slight leak from the transmission shaft seal. Ordered replacement clutch, seal and oil from appliancepartspros.com. • Door latch failure

Disconnect existing part and connect new one. Disconnect involved removing back cover around lock and electrical connector. Also had to remove rubber gasket. Read more

The drain pump was bad. With the help of Appliance Parts Pros, I was able to order the correct part and a couple of other things while I had the washer apart. Planning to spend hundreds on a new washer and was pleased to discover the agitator coupling was the only thing wrong. Very easy repair. The only additional feature we would have liked was a softener dispenser. Located a GE model of the same genre that used the same coupler and took the leap to get the agitator and dispenser cup for this model (WJRR4170). The Cold Water Inlet Valve had a very good You Tube Video and I followed it. One note of caution, as I chuckled at the guy on the video saying watch for sharp edges, he was correct. When removing one of the lines from the valve, my pliers slipped and my elbow hit the front of the machine(inside edge) and cut my elbow. 18 year old Maytag Atlantis top load washer had a load knocking and rattle sound with excessive vibration when the tub was spinning, but not when it was agitating. They was no water leaking. The repair guy was going to charge me upwards of $225 to replace the timer in my washer, if in fact it was the timer. I decided with Christmas just a month away that there had to be a better way.
