The repair guy was going to charge me upwards of $225 to replace the timer in my washer, if in fact it was the timer. I decided with Christmas just a month away that there had to be a better way. I looked on the internet for similar descriptions for similar models and found many angry reports. Most said that the rotor assembly was bad as the nut that held the rotor and other parts together had loosened and allowed slippage between steel and plastic splines. Yes, I know that sounds like trouble, but apparently not to LG when they designed it. I drained the pump and removed coins etc from pump drain screen. This did not solve the problem, so I called Slagers, our local appliance store in Iowa City. The repair man came out two days later in the AM. He drained the pump again and checked the codes--he had to use our wireless internet because Sprint would not work from our house to determine the error code problem. He said it was the pump. 18 year old Maytag Atlantis top load washer had a load knocking and rattle sound with excessive vibration when the tub was spinning, but not when it was agitating. They was no water leaking. Wrote down model and serial number. Went to The Google to find replacement part. Among other choices, A'pplaincePartsPros.com came up. Quickly found the part. More to the point (of appreciation) is that there was a video right there on the page about how to replace this part. I hadn't tought much about it, since the lid easily came off with the pin broken. Samsung top load washer, about 3 years old started throwing a DC error code more and more often. Initially started with large loads. Wash would get to spin cycle, start wobbling all over the place, stop and refill then try again. Eventually it would stop and throw the DC code. As time went on, the size of the loads got smaller and smaller. Research here indicated that suspension rods probably need replacing. I just wanted to put my experience here for all to see. I have a Maytag Neptune, MAH5500BWW, one of the original ones. I bought it back in 2002 and it has done many many loads of wash faithfully. So when the bearings started to get loud I thought it best to replace them, the seal kit and the belt. I did my research as best I could and decided to order the OEM parts from an appliance supplier.
