First replaced the latch, spring, and lever, but no improvement. Then I saw the lever arm on the other half of the door, which by position had to be the way that the timer interacts with the soap dispenser. My journey started with an effort to replace just the water dispenser button, which failed because the fifth post on the back side of the button (not the four posts which hold the button in place--it's the extra rectangular piece visible near the repairman's pinkie finger at 3:04) had broken off, and it is this piece which reaches and moves the actuator for the water... I wasn't sure if it was the door being warped, the spring return being worn, or the rotary damper failing, so I ordered all to update the door mechanism. I also ordered a new micro switch since one of the switches had started to require more and more pressure to actuate. Figured I'd fix it at the same time. The ice chute flap wasnt closing. 1. I turned off power 2, Pulled off facia around controls on freezer door,, you have to pull out the bottom part of the chute first , its clipped in 3. Disconnected the front panel 4. Unscrewed the next panel to allow access to the chute flap 5. Removed 1 screw holding complete flap and mechanism and replaced with new 6. Re installed all parts in reverse Problem was the chute flap had worn and was folding over on top edge when opened and then wouldnt return... Read more
