Superfast parts delivery. Got packages by the second day. Videos were extremely helpful and well done; we couldn't have done without them although we came across slight differences in our machine and found workarounds. Our machine did not drain the water so I drained the water manually via drain tube at bottom of the machine and checked the filter for blockage. I looked at videos and read several blogs about my GE GTW460ASJ6WW washer not agitating. They all pointed to changing the Clutch and Washer mode shifter. Pretty easy repair that only took about 15 minutes. The old parts looked ok but changed them anyway. This DID NOT solve the problem. Took a closer examination of the agitator. I could turn the Agitator Base by hand without the drum turning. AHAH, maybe the screw came out? So I tried to get the Auger off to access the 7/16” bolt holding... Read more

Unscrewed door latch and replaced it with the new door latch (1-2 min). Unscrewed outer plate from door lock assembly. Removed door lock assembly from its outer plate and unplugged wiring. Replaced with new door lock assembly, plugged back in, tightened some screws, double-checked alignment between latch & lock assembly was good and the project was done. Incredibly easy and saved about $150 not having a repair tech come out to fix it. Read more

• Shakes and moves

My washing machine was making a loud thumping sound and bouncing around a bit. Research suggested that it could be bearings and/or the spider shaft assembly. After watching the instruction videos to replace the spider or bearings, I seen you need to replace both the shaft seal and tub gasket to get to the spider and bearings. Luckily we planned ahead when building the laundry room, as we built a water catch basin and drain under the washer, but waking up to see 1-2 inches of water is never a good sign - even if it is contained. It appears that a sleeve of a shirt was accidentally caught between the door mechanism and the bellow seal. Repair went fairly smoothly by following the EXCELLENT how-to video provided. I had only a few issues and suggestions. 1. Because many of the screws and fasteners are of multiple sizes, I would recommend laying them out in a muffin tray or on a paper with labels for where they go back. 2. After removing the weights and prepping to remove the shock absorbers, after the front ones were removed, the tub tilted so far the rear shock absorber separated. The friction pads fell out. • Lid or door won't close

This was a super-easy repair. You have to line up the spring so that it sits on the bumps inside the magnet holder and the door, then you have to line up the tabs on the magnet holder so they will slide into the slots on the door. Then you just push it in. Repair took less than a minute. Read more

Conducted research on web, and via direct contact with AppliancePros where a diagnosis of replacing the water inlet valve and cleaning the sensor tube would "most probably" (80%) handle the issue. The remaining uncertainty would reside in the electronic board circuitry. The price of replacing the water inlet valve was half of a local repair call just to diagnose the issue so I decided to have faith in the odds presented to me. Repair went well, replaced the pulley wheel, belt, rear drum bearing. Had an issue after replacement with the dryer stopping after ~5mins or so when running with heat. Fluff cycle would run fine. Details: The lock nut on the pulley wheel didn't feel tight enough so i tried to crimp it back on the pulley arm. It then became way too lose. After researching the problem on this site, I realized that the most likely cause was a bad bearing contained in the shaft & tube assembly. Essentially, the tub seal failed & allowed water to travel down the shaft & into the housing containing the bearing. I confirmed this by pulling the front cover off of the unit & noticed some brown water pooled directly under the shaft & tube assembly. After a few internet searches, it became clear that the most common fix for this issue is replacing the water inlet valve. My washer is about five years old, which aligns with the typical lifespan of these valves. I ordered the OEM parts for this washer, as this is not something you want failing and potentially flooding your home while you’re away.
