The Idler Pulley is an OEM part for GE dryers. This critical component helps to maintain the correct tension on the dryer's drive belt, ensuring smooth operation and preventing it from slipping.
Symptoms of a bad Idler Pulley include:
- Squeaking or screeching noises during dryer operation, often a sign of bearing wear or failure.
- The dryer drum not turning smoothly, or at all, indicating that the belt may be slipping or has come off entirely due to a failed pulley.
- Excessive heat or a burning smell, which can occur if the pulley is seizing up and causing friction.
- Visible wear or damage to the pulley itself.
Causes of a bad idler pulley can include worn bearings, accumulation of lint and debris that impedes rotation, or material fatigue after prolonged use.
This GE replacement part is also compatible with Hotpoint, RCA, and some Kenmore models.
