Removed Torx screws inside the dishwasher door, this causes the door panel to fall forward/down. Having a rug or something underneath to prevent scratches is useful. It's about 8 screws that need to come out, if I recall correctly they are all the ones with the torx head facing into the dishwasher when in the closed position. Then the panel comes off, exposing the bolts holding the handles, the cap comes off easily and replaces easily and reverse the process. Some of the screws are different... Read more

The control went thru a month or so of erratic behavior; the display would come on and flash and beep without any input on my part. Then it died completely. I did a little research on the GE website and determined likely cause waa a defective user interface board. I ordered a replacement part from AppliancePartsPros.com, however the exact part for my Kitchen Aid dishwasher had been discontinued. There were two differences between the original and replacement part. First, the original rack had two adjustable tine rows, but the replacement only had one. While this is a Whirlpool dishwasher, I have the Kenmore Elite version of it. I believe them to be identical for parts. A little background: The first symptom I had of problems was plastic bits from the ball bearing retainer strips in the slides falling out. Then ball bearings falling out. A common problem with this dishwasher. When disassembling the upper basket, some of the gray plastic pieces were very brittle and easily snapped off. A simple fix. It would have been helpful and saved a bit of time and shipping expense if a note was added to the lower crockery basket part number that the silverware basket had also been updated and the old one would not fit. Read more

ORDERED NEW SUMP AND DIVERTER MOTOR, THE SHAFT ON THE DIVERTER MOTOR FELT A LITTLE ROUGH SO I WENT AHEAD AND REPLACED IT, THE SUMP REPLACEMENT WENT FAIRLY EASY. HAD TO MAKE A TRIP TO THE HARDWARE STORE FOR A HOSE CLAMP. ONE HOSE ON THE SUMP HAS A CLAMP THAT IS NOT REUSEABLE. YOU SHOULD ALSO ORDER THIS CLAMP. IT IS NARROW AND A REGULAR HOSE CLAMP WILL NOT WORK. Read more
