This canopy resistor regulates current to a range-hood or canopy fan circuit to help the blower run at the correct speeds. Replacing a failing resistor can restore proper fan speed control and stop intermittent operation. What it does:

• Controls electrical resistance in the canopy/blower circuit to help regulate fan speeds.
• Helps prevent the motor from running only on a single speed or from failing to start at selected speeds.
• Can cause symptoms such as inconsistent fan speeds, no response from speed controls, or occasional fan cutoff.
• Works with the hood's wiring and control switch to deliver the correct voltage to the fan motor.

• Disconnect power to the appliance before accessing the canopy or electrical connections.
• Inspect wiring and connectors for heat damage or corrosion; replace harness or terminals if damaged.
