I looked on Appliance Parts Pros. com and read the problems that others had and replacing the ignitor made sense so I ordered one. It came by UPS within 3 days. I watched the video on how to replace it. Everything went easily, except the screw that held the ignitor in place was a philups head screwdriver and I couldn't get a screwdriver into the small space I had to work in so I went to Harbor Freight Tools and bought an inexpensive 90 degree rachet screwdriver for $2.99 and it worked great.... This is a Montgomery Ward gas range made by Tappan. Parts are no longer offered for this appliance. So, I had to eyeball various ignitors to determine which one would work. I had cleaned the lint out of the dryer exhaust hose, that was usually the problem. But still no heat. I went online to AppliancePpartPros and watched the videos and was able to diagnose that I needed a new ignitor. .The parts delivered very quickly and I had the job done in 15 minutes. Frigidaire Gallery gas dryer from maybe 15 years ago. Based on the fact the the smell was only in the dryer, I concluded it must be the gas valve failing to completely seal when closed. After looking at the insides again, I suppose it is possible that it was a connection near the burner, but that stuff had remained untouched for 10 years so I still think I made a good assumption. The igniter was sparking, but the spark did not appear as bright as the other burners. Swapped the burner and lid since that is where contact is made. Did not help. Came to the conclusion it was a faulty igniter. I ordered parts, replaced the igniter and now the range burner works fine. Read more

I replaced the igniter with a Frigidaire(Electrolux) part. The small oven on my Thermador Pro-Harmony Gas Range stopped heating (on Thanksgiving Day of course). I looked on the internet and I saw a video indicating it may be the igniter. I ordered both the Bosch igniter (00415504) and the Frigidaire (5303935066). Bosch and Thermador are the same company. Appliance pros had the part. Incredibly, we received it the next day. They sent a confirming e mail with general instructions on how to replace it. Worked like a charm! Our's is a Bosch unit. The retaining brass nut in the center of the burner is an odd size-20 mm which I did not have among my many automotive metric tools. The local Auto Zone though had a 20 mm socket. Once that was removed the procedure would have been a breeze except the retaining screw on the old igniter was frozen. ... Read more
