Dryer not heating or flame goes out after igniting? This flame sensor monitors burner temperature to regulate gas flow. Easy 15-minute DIY repair.
Being a complete DIY I hate to call some unknown person into my home knowing that just to get them there will cost me more than I will spend for parts that I don't need. After all, they are trying to make a living and by selling me parts that I don't need will increase their profits. I've dealt with APP before and was impressed by their site because I could find both mechanical and electrical drawings for almost everything I have. I looked up my dryer, decided what was probably the problem,... Read more
Fixes no heat during drying, wet dishes, or blinking sanitized light. This safety thermostat cuts power if water overheats. Moderate DIY repair.
Performed diagnostic tests. Had code for no heat. I performed a continuity check on the element and found it to be bad. I replaced the Heating Element per the video directions they provided on their website. I also replaced the Hi-Limit Thermostat since I was in that area already. The dishwasher is repaired for a fraction of the cost of what I would have paid a repair person to do the work. Read more
Dryer won't heat or overheats? High limit thermostat prevents overheating by shutting off heat at high temps. Easy DIY repair with video guide.
For several months we could smell a slight odor of propane in the laundry room and wondered why, just didn't seem like it was enough to be overly concerned, but thought something must be wrong with the dryer, but it was still working. We just didn't know how inefficiently. Then the extra time it took to dry a load of clothes progressively seemed to get longer, but things still seemed to work fine and the clothes got dried, given enough time. Then approximately 3 weeks ago we noticed the dryer... Read more
The High Limit Thermostat is an OEM replacement part for GE electric dryers. Located internally near heating components, this safety device monitors drum temperatures to prevent excessive heat accumulation. Causes of malfunction relate to water residues creating shorts, loose terminals detaching wiring due to vibrations, or a worn heat sensitive mechanism reacting slower over time. Symptoms involve:
This GE OEM replacement part is also compatible with Hotpoint, RCA, and some Kenmore models.
Did continuity tests on the sensors, till I figured out what one was bad. Read more
Dryer won't heat or start? A failed thermal fuse assembly cuts power when temps get too high. Common fix for no-heat issues. Takes 30-45 minutes.
I found a few videos on YouTube about other dryers that gave me enough information to figure out my own. I was able to pull out the heater element and replace it with a new one that arrived the day after I purchased it. I also replaced the thermal fuse and thermostat. Read more

If your oven won't preheat or shows an F3 error code, this temperature sensor monitors oven heat and safety features. Direct plug replacement, 15-minute fix.
I was able to find the model number on the lower right hand side of the range/oven, a GE True Temp. I Googled it to find parts, and thought I had found the correct sensor, but was very pleased that the ApplianceParts sire suggested I check compatability again before the order. I would have ordered the wrong sensor kit other wise. I DID get the correct one order. It arrived on time. The tricky part was get the old sensor out without having to pull the oven/range combo out form the wall over... Read more
Dryer blowing cold air or not heating? This limit thermostat monitors drum temperature and controls the heating element. Common fix for temperature issues.
If your dishwasher won't start or has no power, the control board fuse may be blown. This 4.1 amp fuse protects electronic components from overcurrent.
I had to remove the dishwasher about 6 inches then remove the door springs and remove the door. Next was to open the cover to reach the circuit board and remove it. The new board was put in and attached the plug. and put the door back together and reinstall the door and springs. Turned the power to check that the lights came on. After confirming I again had power, I turned the breaker off and reinstalled the dishwasher in the cabinet and restored power. Lastly I ran the machine to ensure that... Read more
Microwave has no power or won't heat? A blown thermal fuse is often the cause. This safety part protects against overheating. DIY repair in 30 minutes.
It is difficult (if not impossible) to remove the electronic switches from the hard plastic latches. I replaced all three switches and both the upper and lower latches I also replaced the main 20 amp ceramic fuse which blew out when the latch/switches failed. Read more
Microwave won't start or is completely dead? This fuse protects against electrical overload. Requires disassembly to access. Often replace with switches.
After doing some research the problem appeared to be the door safety switches. I ordered 3 new ones to replace all the original ones. Some minor disassembly of the microwave front was required to reach the fuse and switches. To reach the switches the control panel wires needed to be unplugged and the panel removed. After doing that replacing the switches was pretty strait forward. As of this comment the microwave has worked for 5 days without blowing the fuse so far. This has probably fixed the... Read more
Oven won't heat or shuts off during baking? A faulty thermal fuse cuts power when detecting excessive heat. This safety device protects your range.
The F9 error code is supposed to indicate that the door lock mechanism has failed. My oven would give the F9 code and turn off during normal baking at 400 F after about 30-40 minutes. It turns out that GE must have programmed the error codes incorrectly in my model, because the real problem was that my control board cooling fan was no longer functional, and one of the two thermal switches was shutting off the unit when the control board area got too hot. AppliancePartsPros.com is one of the... Read more
Dryer shuts off mid-cycle or overheats? The outlet control thermistor monitors exhaust temperature. Moderately difficult repair requires drum removal.
My first attempt was to replace the main board and then the thermistor, should have done this the other way around, turned out it was the thermistor, a pretty cheap part, dryer works great now. Repair requires removing the drum but overall not too difficult or time consuming. Read more
