This replacement part is an electronic circuit board for range hoods. A range hood is the metal piece on top of the stove that holds the fan. It functions as a ventilation system to filter and circulate the air, smoke, and heat coming from the stove while cooking. The electronic circuit board controls the main functions of the range hood. Before installing this part, make sure that the range hood is unplugged, or turn off the circuit breaker that goes to the range. The circuit board is located within the chimney above the motor. First, unthread the four screws holding down the circuit board. After the screws are removed, take off the cover. Line up the new circuit board with the old one, and replace the old wires into the correct terminals on the new circuit board. This might require a pair of needle-nose pliers. Once wires have been connected properly, remove the ribbon wire from the old board and place it into the new. Uninstall the old circuit board by removing the screws that secure it. Secure the new circuit board in place of the old by fastening the screws back into their original place. This genuine OEM replacement part is compatible with Bosch, Gaggenau, and Thermador range hoods.

Answer

Hello Paul. Make sure there are no bad wires on the unit. If not, and there is power to the board, but the lights do not work, see if there is power coming to the transformer from the board. If so, and no lights, and the lights are good, replace the transformer 00487414. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. Hope this helps. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html
