My wife was running a wash cycle when she realized the dishwasher was running quite a long time. when she viewed the dishwasher she saw the display read 1 and continued to monitor it. After a while she opened the door, to see the dishes appeared to be clean. so she closed the door again pushed the start button to complete the wash cycle, and the washer started at 8, ran, and counted down to 1 once again and continued run never shutting off. She then unloaded the DW. After a few days she loaded the washer once again and started another load. when she hit the start button, it once again they cycle started at 8 and would run to 1. I pushed the wash cycle and soft scrub cycle the DW went to CL the water drained. so once off, I shut off the breaker turned it back on and restarted the washer. it went to 2hr and stayed there. I can here the DW water inlet valve open and fill DW rand for about 30min never leaving the 2HR. So after reading several online articles it appears the control module would be the culprit, but on further inspection the control board and heater module all looked in good order with no obvious signs of bad solider joints as many service men suggested was the problem. So at this time I am not sure if it is still the control board or the heater element thoughts. Any thoughts. NS

Answer

N, you may want to check the turbidity sensor. A lot of times this can have gunk build up on it and prevent the dishwasher from sensing that the water passing through it is clean and can cause it to wash for an excessive amount of time. Otherwise, the only other component that could cause these kinds of issues would be the control improperly cycling.
