Lisa for Model Number Bosch Dryer WTV74100 Some of my appliances (dryer, oven, fridge, freezer, lights) were all suddenly working at 50% x 30min. By the time electrician arrived, all the power was out. It seems a technician had spliced a line putting in opticfibre. The dryer would not work after this. Would a power surge damage a thermal limiter? Or could something else be the cause? Thanks very much for your help.
Answer Hello Lisa, A thermal limiter will only open due to excessive temperatures. When there is a "brown out" you should apply Ohms' Law. When the voltage is cut in half, the current is proportionally increased, (doubled). The issue is more likely a control issue since the programming can easily be corrupted by excessive current.
