Ben for Model Number SHU66C02UC/14 I ordered a multimeter to check the dispenser, as it is not opening during the wash. I'm a little cloudy on how and when I should be testing it. I have a troubleshooting manual that indicates which contacts on the control unit to test, but from previous responses in this thread, it seems like I might have to time my reading to something? Hope you can clarify.
Answer Hello Ben. Yes, the dispenser opens during the wash cycle. You will have to sit and watch the meter and it will only energize for a few seconds. During each wash program, the wax motor opens twice, once to dispense detergent and again to dispense rinse-aid. The wax motor opens the same -- linkages open the detergent door & operate the rinse-aid dosage plunger. Dispensers can have reed switches or optical rinse-aid sensors. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html Read More...
