Justin K. for Model Number PLHS267ZA

Freezer/refrigerator all of a sudden stopped cooling. Seems the freezer and fresh food are about the same temperature now around 38°F to 42°F. Could just be because the unit is in my garage which is around 45°F to 50°F so it just seems like it is still cooling? Fans are running all the time, but it seems the compressor is hit or miss. If I unplug the unit the compressor may or may not come back on. If it doesn't, I hear the symptoms of a bad start relay. I can go back out in the garage later and the compressor will be running. Even if the compressor is on it doesn't seem to be cooling like it should.

Answer

Hello Justin, If the unit is in a room the temperature of the fresh food compartment, the thermostat will call for cooling and the freezer side will warm to room temperature. The only correction for this is to warm the room to above the fresh food temperature setting, (optimum performance from room temperature of 75°F to 85°F as per manufacturer) so the temperature control can warm up and call for cooling.
