Shaun for Model Number FKCH17F7HWD I just replaced a capacitor and compressor start relay on my fridgidaire freezer, approximately how long should I wait to see cooling / freezing. I replaced them after my freezer thawed out when a door was left open, I can't really hear any noise from my compressor but before I changed the components the compressor was warm to the touch. This freezer has always run very quiet but how do I know nothing else is damaged.
Answer Shaun, If the compressor is still not running after replacing the overload and relay then this will be a compressor issue. If the compressor is running then check the frost pattern on the evaporator coils to make sure that the coils are getting an even frost pattern top to bottom. If no frost pattern and compressor running then this will be a sealed system issue. You will want to give the unit 24 hours to obtain proper temperature. Read More...
