Kevin for Model Number Frigidaire UFD-18-63 I have a very old (1963) upright Frigidaire freezer that has begun to have problems. It has started to click every couple of minutes and compressor isn't coming on. The clicking is coming from a black box just behind and to the right of the thermostat control knob at the lower front right of freezer. Is this the start relay and if so, is it possible to replace it? I'm not sure even how to remove it - seems to have a metal bar/wire running down its center.
Answer Hello Kevin. Use needle nose pliers to remove the wire from the unit. It has clips at the top and bottom securing it. Then you can pull off the start device and test it.
