Daddyrog I have a Kenmore upright frost free freezer that works great until I have a power failure. Even a flicker of power loss and the freezer quits and won't work until I unplug it for a few minutes, then it's fine until another power loss. I've been unpluging it like this for 2 years. All has been good but now my son is living in the house where it is located and I am affraid he will forget to reset it when power fails. I was just wondering if a capacitor will fix it.
Answer Hello, This sounds like the control isn't resetting properly. The run capacitor would have nothing to do with this or it wouldn't start after it shuts off when the thermostat is satisfied. If the unit has no electronic control, the issue will be with the temperature control or the start device. I could go into better detail if a model number had been listed. Read More...
