Manufacturer Part Number: 216954214

This controller is the refrigerator's electronic brain, managing cooling and defrost operations to keep temperatures stable. Replacing a failed board restores reliable compressor, fan, and defrost control when cooling becomes erratic.

  • Regulates compressor and evaporator fan operation to maintain set temperatures
  • Manages the defrost cycle to prevent frost/ice buildup on the evaporator
  • Coordinates inputs from sensors/switches for consistent, efficient cooling
  • Common failure symptoms include poor or intermittent cooling, heavy frost on the back wall/evaporator, constant running or short-cycling, or failure to start
What's included: One electronic control board Installation notes:
  • Disconnect power before servicing and use ESD precautions when handling electronics
  • Access the control location (typically in the control housing or rear compartment) and photograph wiring for reference
  • Transfer connectors one at a time to the new board; ensure all plugs are fully seated and harnesses are routed safely
  • Reassemble panels, restore power, and verify normal compressor/fan operation

Jamg for Model Number kenmore 253.28262805

Noticed that the freezer was not cooling as well a few days prior, and had a puddle towards the front of the freezer. Yesterday realized that the drain was frozen solid. Went ahead and unclogged the freezer and removed the backing in the freezer to expose the coils thinking they'd be frozen solid and not allowing any airflow. The coils were not frozen solid, and was able to confirm that the fan was running fine. It appears that the condenser coils for this model are within the wall of the freezer so I cannot check them. The compressor is running quite hot, and I do see some condensation occasionally coming off the copper line. The defrost timer is turning and appears to be normal. I put the dial thermostat to the lowest at 7 and let it run overnight, temperatures within the freezer came down to only 60 degrees. Before placing the backing back onto the freezer I confirmed that there was a light frost forming on the left side of the coils. Any suggestions to take a look at?

Answer

Jamg, the condenser coils for this unit are going to be located behind the appliance. If there is not enough of a gap between the wall and the coils, it can reduce airflow where they will not cool properly. If there is enough spacing, and the frost pattern does not cover the entire evaporator within a couple of hours, there would be a sealed system failure that would require a freon certified technician for diagnosing and repair.
