Customer Questions and Answers for High-Voltage Diode Kit (Microwave) by Frigidaire

By: Frigidaire
Part Number: OEM9662217
Manufacturer Part Number: 5303918287

This microwave high-voltage diode kit converts AC to DC in the high-voltage circuit so the magnetron can heat. Replacing a failed diode often restores heating performance. What it does:

  • Rectifies high-voltage AC to DC for the magnetron
  • Completes the high-voltage circuit with the transformer and capacitor
  • Common failure symptoms include running but not heating, loud humming/buzzing, or blowing a fuse/tripping a breaker at start
  • Visual clues can include cracking, swelling, or burn marks on the diode
What's included:
  • One high-voltage diode
Install notes:
  • Disconnect power before servicing; microwaves can retain lethal voltage even when unplugged
  • Properly discharge the high-voltage capacitor before handling components; use insulated tools and approved procedures
  • Note diode orientation/polarity and mounting; install exactly as the original

Mike for Model Number frigidaire LGUB2642LF4

This is a french door refrigerator with 2 icemakers and a water dispenser. Water dispenser and upper(refrigerator) icemaker work but lower icemaker (freezer) gets no water. Replaced the valve in October and lower icemaker made ice for a while, but now makes a tray every couple weeks. Checked the inlet valve and it all works. It is also A new icemaker. Checked for frozen inlet line. Can the diode kit be my problem. If so, what diode kit works with this refrigerator. If not, what else to check.

Answer

Mike, as the ice maker and the water valve are new, it would be recommended that the freezer temperature is checked with a thermometer. After leaving a thermometer in the freezer for several minutes, it can be checked to see if it matches the set temperature. If the temperature matches the set temp, and it is set to be below 10°F, the next step would be to identify if there is an air gap in the gasket that could be allowing warm air into the freezer.
