Broderp for Model Number FWFB9200ES0

Washer shows ER 59 stored in memory. The washer was not draining, and this turned out to be a bad pump. I replaced the pump. It now drains properly. However the washer still will not go into the final spin. The washer normally turns at a slow rpm in both directions before engaging the final spin. What it does now is it seems like it can't turn the tub. It try's to turn in the slow rpm, but can not usually make one revolution let alone the high speed spin. When it times out the cloths are still very wet. However, when I lighten the load, by taking out 1/2 the cloths or more the washer completes just fine and I do get the high speed final spin like normal. How is the load playing a factor on this? I thought the belt could be slipping, but the motor would still spin and the control board would still get the tach signal. Parts are fairly expensive to guess at and I can't have the unit down. It's also in a tight space where access is very difficult. Any advise would be appreciated.

Answer

Broderp, The E59 is a tach error no signal received. You will want to do the following, remove the belt from the motor and spin the motor pulley, does the motor spin free?, No then replace the motor, if yes then disconnect the plug from the drive motor and measure the resistance between pins 4 and 5 in the motor. If the meter reads other than between 105 and 130 ohms then replace the motor. If the reading is betwen 105 and 130 then go to next step. Disconnect the plug from the motor and measure the resistance of the windings pin 1 to pin 2, pin 1 to pin 3, pin 2 to pin 3. All readings should be between 4 and 6 ohms. If the readings are correct then replace the speed control and if incorrect replace the motor. Also spin the tub pulley and if it does not spin freely then the bearings would be the issue.
