Phil for Model Number Bggf3042kf I am using butane gas on my Frigidaire gas range, flame are yellow don't have access to natural gas, what part do I need to correct this problem. Thanks
Answer Hello Phil, They are not the same! Otherwise the appliance would be rated and certified for use with both fuels! They have different BTU values and require different volumes of air for complete combustion. To convert appliances, you MUST get conversion kits from the original manufacturer. They will give you a new rating plate which is their proof that the appliance is "certified" for use with that fuel. If you "Mcgyver" the appliance and try and convert it by just changing or drilling orifices etc, you will void the manufacturer's warranty. Also, the manufacturer will take no responsibility if the appliance hurts anyone or property is damaged because you have "altered" the appliance. Insurance companies will deny claims for the same reason. On the appliance's rating plate you will find the model and serial number along with the manufacturer's contact information. Typically getting a conversion kit for natural gas to propane, or propane to natural gas is not too difficult. Butane may be a different story. You might end up having to replace the appliances altogether. Give them a call though. If they offer one and don't sell you one directly, they should be able to put you in touch with a dealer in your area who can. Once you have the factory conversion kit installed by a qualified technician you are good to go! Read More... Answered by AppliancePartsPros.com | Tuesday, October 22, 2013
