Dude for Model Number Frideadare fgfl88cca when trying to bake: I usually smell gas before the oven "wooshes" and fires up. It takes a long time to get up to temperature. Baking takes extra long. I opened it up to take a look: The igniter fires up. (looks white/orange) After 2 minutes gas flows to the burner, It won't ignite it though. I had to use a lighter to ignite the flame. It burns evenly across the burner, but the flame is only 1/4" high. In conclusion, The igniter allows gas to flow, but won't ignite it. and the flame is (presumably low.) Will a regulator fix this issue ? -Dude
Answer Hello Dude. Test for 3.2-3.6 volts AC at the gas safety valve with the igniter turned on. If the voltage is there, you have a bad safety valve. If the voltage is low, you have a weak igniter and the igniter will need to be replaced. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html Read More...
