The Replacement Icemaker is an OEM part for Frigidaire side-by-side refrigerators. It serves the critical function of automatically producing batches of ice cubes on demand. Note: The Icemaker Kit comes with an adaptor harness that may be needed for some applications. The harness converts a 4 pin connector to a 3 pin connector.

Causes of a malfunctioning icemaker can vary. They may stem from failed control sensors affecting conductivity and freeze times, scaled or corroded water lines, or an ice basket mold with broken fins and louvers.
Symptoms of a bad icemaker include:

  • Reduced or inconsistent ice production
  • Ice cubes getting jammed or fused together
  • Water leaks or spray inside the freezer
  • Strange sounds or mechanisms not working

This OEM Frigidaire part is also compatible with Electrolux, Gibson, Kelvinator and some Kenmore models.

Steve

I just hooked up the ice maker on a 8 year old fridgidaire that the ice maker had not been used for about a year. It will make ice very slowly. When the cubes are frozen it seems they lay on top of the ice maker for an extended time before ejecting. It only dumps ice about four times in 24 hrs. Also, what is the adjustment screw on the front for that has a neg. and pos. marking on it. The temp. is 0 deg. and the water line is not frozen. The ice maker worked fine when used previously. Thanks for your help. Steve

Answer

Steve, If you have a filter in your unit, you will want to make sure that the filter is good. It may be that there is not enough water getting into the icemaker which would cause the icemaker to make smaller cubes and to cause it to take longer to make the cubes. If water checks ok then the thermostat on the icemaker would be the problem which would require a new icemaker. The adjustment screw if for more or less water.
