Jamie for Model Number LEQ7000ES1 Recently the door latch on my dryer broke. At the same time it was broken, the heat also stopped working. I am wondering if I broke it by attempting to duct tape the door shut and run it. When running the dryer with the door duct taped shut it would run for about 10 minutes, then all three status lights would blink and the cycle would stop. After about 10 attempts at trying it this way, I noticed the heat wasn't working. My question is if the door not being sealed would narrow down what part of the heating process I screwed up and need to replace. Or if the lack of door seal probably has nothing to do with it and I instead need to figure out another method to narrow down which part is in need of replacement. Thanks for your help!
Answer Hello Jamie. No, you have 2 issues and the door affecting the heat is not one of them. You need to repair the door. As for the heating issue, Check and make sure you have 240 volts coming to the dryer. Check and make sure the unit is not set to Air Fluff. Also check the heater and thermostats and see if they are good. You can test these with a multi-meter MA-DM1. They should read closed for continuity. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html Read More...
