Mike for Model Number FGHB2844LF7 My ice maker "pure source ultra Ice" maker started to make a noise. As I pulled out the ice tub --- I noticed that there was a big chunk of ice in there that didn't allow me to pull out. As I manuevered the tub out I noticed there was a rubber line with a plastic stopper dangling in the ice clump. Now I have a rubber line (not sure if it's a water line) or not as it doesn't seem to be a flow line. Can't figure out where that should be plugged back in as the line is dangling in the way of where the tub slides back in. Any thoughts before I pull the unit off?
Answer Mike, This tube that you are seeing is actually a thermistor that is hanging from the icemaker. It should go on the bottom of the icemaker and have a cover that holds it in place. If the cover is lost then the icemaker assembly would need to be replaced. Without the thermistor being attached, the icemaker will continue to cycle more rapidly and not freeze the water in the tray. This will cause the clumping. Read More...
