Judy for Model Number FGHC2331PFAA

This is the first time that we are replacing the water Filter #ULTRAWF and the new filter will not lock in place. I have read many of your other answers and it looks like we need a new base as you have noted in other questions. How could so many people have the same issue? Is this poorly made that it breaks as soon as you need to replace the water filter? I am disappointed in the Frigidaire company. An appliance only a year old should not need new parts. I have just passed the original warranty so I will need to pay for a repair man to come fix this problem. Is the base something that we can replace ourselves or does it run into other problems like water lines?

Answer

Hello Judy. First make sure your pressing the filter hard enough to lock it into the base. If not, then the base may not be bad. Unfortunately the manufacturer does not have instructions for replacing the filter housing. There is also no video available. In order to replace you will need to remove the filter. With filter removed you will remove the lower housing. Make sure that water supply is shut off and you may have to disconnect the water line at the water valve. The lower housing appears to just be clipped in. Then there will be a screw in the upper housing and holding in the filter head. Remove the screws and the filter head should come forward in which you will disconnect the tubing by pushing in on the ring around the tube, then pull the tube out at the same time.
