Eric for Model Number LFSS2612TF2 I replaced the Puresource 3 (WF3CB) filter in my LFSS2612TF2 fridge (fridge is less than a year old) after six months with the Puresource Ultra (ULTRA WF)--the manual says I can use either filter. After about one month with the ULTRA WF, flow from the water dispenser was drastically reduced and there was little to no ice in the ice maker. Since it was a relatively new filter, I tested out the water line coming into the fridge and the fridge inlet valve. The water line (braided flex) had a good flow, and I bought a new inlet valve to test out and was still experiencing the same issue. So, I then bought a new ULTRA WF filter to replace the month-old one. When I pulled out the month-old one, it was really heavy (compared to the new one), so I thought maybe it might've been clogged. The new ULTRA WF filter is about 3 weeks old now and is experiencing low flow in the water dispenser and ice maker isn't maintaining a high level (constantly see the coils in the ice maker). I pulled out the ULTRA WF filter and it feels heavy (like the one that's a month old). Is there an issue with using the ULTRA WF filter with my fridge? (Should I try using the WF3CB again?) Or is this possibly a water filter base issue? Thanks in advance!
Answer Hello Eric, sounds like the filter is doing its job. It is designed to filter out very fine sediment etc. If it feels heavy it is likely clogged with sediment/particles etc. You may want to have the water supply to the house tested for sediment if it turns out to be so, a pre-filter designed for sediment can be installed on the water line to the house or just the ref.
