Walter for Model Number TFX28PPCECC I purchased a defrost timer from you for model number TFX28PPCECC. How do I test it to see if the defrost timer is defective? I just recently installed a new defrost heater and it was working perfectly. Suddenly the freezer section will not freeze.
Answer Walter, remove power to the refrigerator, remove the connector and remove the timer. With a meter set on the lowest resistance setting or continuity, check across terminals 1 and 3 on the timer, this is the timer motor circuit and you should read a closed circuit/continuity. Then check across terminals 2 and 3, if the timer is in a defrost mode you should read a closed circuit/continuity. Then check across terminals 3 and 4 if the timer is in a cooling mode, you should have a closed circuit or continuity. Then slowly, carefully turn the adjustment knob until you hear two loud clicks, then check that circuits between 2 and 3 and 3 and 4 have reversed and are opposite circuits from the first test.
