The Digitron is an OEM part for GE microwaves. It is an essential component of the microwave's control board, displaying settings, cooking times, and other information on the microwave's digital display.

Over time, the Digitron can fail due to electrical issues, exposure to moisture, or normal wear and tear. If the Digitron is malfunctioning, it can affect the readability of the display or the functionality of the control panel.

Symptoms of a bad Digitron include:

  • The display being dim or completely dark
  • Inaccurate or incomplete information shown on the screen
  • Flickering or intermittent display issues
  • Unresponsive control buttons linked to the display

This GE replacement part is also compatible with Hotpoint, RCA, and some Kenmore models.

Erik for Model Number GE SCB1001KSS01

I have a GE SCB1001KSS01 that has as wonky display. Shows the time but it flickers and the characters float around the screen. I have read many Answers regarding this and similar issues. I purchased WB27X10858 and WB27X10861 after reading those answers. After installing the boards the problem still occurs. Now that I have spent roughly $250 with no solution, do you have any other suggestions? No chance of return the boards after they have been installed, I would guess, Frustrating!

Answer

Erik, the transformer WB17X10021 will need to be inspected for loose terminal connections and broken wires. From there, the DC voltage output will need to be tested. With a multimeter, at connection CN7 of the pcb the black probe would be placed at pin 5 and red probe at pin 4. The voltage reading should measure 7V DC. From there, the black probe would go to pin 2 and the red probe would be placed at pin 1 for 12V DC, then pin 3 for 19V DC. If any of the voltages did not read appropriately, or the voltage fluctuated, then the transformer has failed and would need to be replaced.
