Pete P. for Model Number RS743G*J1 I am renting a place with an old Hotpoint Range/Oven Model #RS743G*J1, Serial #FT230365R. I damaged the door seal gasket and would like to replace and purchase a new gasket/seal, your part #AP201-2020. I was able to take the door off and get the six hex-shaped screws off the bottom edge of the door. The problem is I can't seem to get to the inner door area where the gasket is because there are two weird looking rounded-top screws at the top inside of the door that have a star-shaped interior. A regular Phillips screwdriver or hex key will not work. What tool do I have to purchase to get those screws off the inside of the door so I can get to the interior of the door to replace the gasket? Or is there another way to get to the door interior? I am in a rush to fix this oven as I am moving out in a few days. Please explain very clearly as I need "oven repair for dummies"! Thanks.
Answer Hello Pete, These are called a torx head screw. I'm not sure about the exact size but you can go the the nearest hardware store and buy a torx bit set that includes 5 or 10 sizes. The size you need will be between a T-20 to a T-30 approximately. Read More... Answered by AppliancePartsPros.com | Thursday, April 26, 2012
