Eileen for Model Number GSM1860N00SS DISHWASHER I suspect a bad door switch. I am trying to meter it. i have 2 black and 2 white leads going to the terminals. No obvious common on this switch. I assume and need to confirm that this is a basic n/o n/c ckt. When the switch is actuated I assume the ckt closes passing energy through from one blak to the other and one white to the other much like a light switch would. I have test leads of ohm meter on the 2 blacks and have an open ckt, I actuate the switch and still have an open. Then I do the same on the 2 white leads, same results. Would this be a good test? Can you help?
Answer Eileen, You're on the right track, Like most appliance products these days you have a "double line break" switch system. One switch opens the voltage in circuit and the other opens the neutral circuit, of the power supply. your test procedure is proper, but you do want to disconnect at least one wire off the switch you're testing, so you don't get a "false" reading. But otherwise you're on top of it. Thanks and Good Luck Read More... Answered by AppliancePartsPros.com | Tuesday, May 29, 2012
