L Howe for Model Number Spectra XL 44 After turning the oven on it doesn't ignite for a minute or two, then when it does light it pops and blows the oven door open from too much gas. Is this a problem with the sensor or the igniter?
Answer Hello L Howe. Test for 3.2-3.6 volts AC at the gas safety valve with the igniter turned on. If the voltage is there, you have a bad safety valve. If the voltage is low, you have a weak igniter and the igniter will need to be replaced. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3.
