Manufacturer Part Number: WH23X10030

The Drain Pump is an OEM part for GE washing machines. It is responsible for removing water from the washer's tub at the end of each wash cycle, ensuring that your laundry is properly drained before the spin cycle. This pump helps to prevent water from sitting in the tub, which can lead to mold and mildew.

Symptoms of a bad Drain Pump include:

  • Water not draining out of the washer, leading to stagnant water pooling in the tub.
  • Unusual noises during the drain cycle, indicating a struggle or failure to operate.
  • The washing machine stopping abruptly before or during the drain phase.

Causes of a bad drain pump can include blockages from small garments or debris, mechanical failure from wear and tear, or electrical issues that affect the pump's power supply.

This GE replacement part is also compatible with Hotpoint, RCA, and some Kenmore models.

Answer

Hello Jeffrey, If your model number is actually WSRE5260D1WW, it is possible for the drain pump to leak but normally you will need to use a flashlight to see if you can locate water trails leading down from the source of the leak. You see, there is no such thing as pure water in a washing machine, so when it leaks out, the water will evaporate and mineral deposits or soap in the water will not evaporate. This will leave a light trail where the water once ran and is only visible by shining a flashlight on it from an angle. Following it up to the the high point will normally reveal the source of the leak.
