Manufacturer Part Number: WH23X10030

The Drain Pump is an OEM part for GE washing machines. It is responsible for removing water from the washer's tub at the end of each wash cycle, ensuring that your laundry is properly drained before the spin cycle. This pump helps to prevent water from sitting in the tub, which can lead to mold and mildew.

Symptoms of a bad Drain Pump include:

  • Water not draining out of the washer, leading to stagnant water pooling in the tub.
  • Unusual noises during the drain cycle, indicating a struggle or failure to operate.
  • The washing machine stopping abruptly before or during the drain phase.

Causes of a bad drain pump can include blockages from small garments or debris, mechanical failure from wear and tear, or electrical issues that affect the pump's power supply.

This GE replacement part is also compatible with Hotpoint, RCA, and some Kenmore models.

Answer

Hello Bobby, This can be a ball of lint at the opening in the outer tub where the pressure switch hose connects to the outer tub or a bad pressure switch or water valve failing. If you unplug the machine and open the control panel, you can remove the hose from the pressure switch and blow through it. This will blow the lint back into the tub from the small opening at the end of the pressure switch hose. If this doesn't work, the water valve can be eliminated as the problem by letting the unit fill with water in the part of the cycle where it overfills and unplug the unit. If the water stops, it cannot be the fault of the water valve 285805. The pressure switch W10820051 is now in question.
