By: Ge
Part Number: OEM9609987
Manufacturer Part Number: WB17T10006

The Terminal Block Kit is an OEM replacement part for GE electric ranges. This kit replaces the points of connection delivering power to control circuits and surface coil elements atop the cooktop.

Causes of failure are prolonged heat cycling which slowly breaks down solder joints and insulator coating on terminals conducting power. Liquids spilled can seep into connection areas over time promoting electrical faults.

Symptoms of a faulty terminal block include:

  • Inability to ignite or regulate specific burners
  • Burners that glow intermittently or fail to respond
  • Tripped circuit breakers upon use of problematic zones
  • Buzzing or cracking noises from under cooktop areas

This genuine GE kit is also compatible with Hotpoint and RCA electric ranges.

Richard L. for Model Number JSP34W0D22WW

I got a replacement terminal block WB17T10006. The video refers to a free standing stove-oven where there is access to a rear panel. But there is no access to such a panel for the drop in stove-oven. How do I get access to the terminals where I should connect the wires from the terminal block? Also, what would be the problem with splicing the wires from the terminal block to the existing wires that used to attach to the old terminal block? I could use either crimped wire connectors or solder. Thanks

Answer

Hello Richard, The problem with hooking to the wires instead of to the terminal block WB17X5095 is getting a good connection that will not burn out from the current flow. You may have to remove the unit from the installation but there will be a way to access the terminal block. Without the terminal block, you would need to make the connection with a split bolt and make sure it is well insulated to prevent an electrical short.
