Customer Questions and Answers for Gasket by Lg

By: Lg
Part Number: OEM13317018
Manufacturer Part Number: 4986ER0004F

The Gasket is an OEM part for LG washing machines, designed to ensure a watertight seal between the door and the washing machine's drum. This door gasket prevents water leaks during operation. Made from flexible, durable rubber, it conforms to the door and frame, creating a secure seal that keeps water contained within the washer during cycles.

Causes for a Gasket to fail include normal wear and tear from frequent use, chemical degradation from laundry detergents and cleaners, and buildup of residue that can cause the material to deteriorate or lose its elasticity.

Symptoms of a bad Gasket include:

  • Water leaking from the front of the washing machine
  • Visible signs of wear, such as cracks, tears, or holes in the gasket.
  • The presence of mold or mildew on the gasket
  • Difficulty closing the washer door, or the door not sealing properly.

This OEM LG part can also be used on Kenmore/Sears appliances.

NOTE: This gasket has a drain hole. For a gasket without a drain hole, order 4986ER0004B.

Rhea for Model Number WM3470HVA

My washer isn't properly draining, with water being left in in the seal (gasket maybe?) after running through a cycle. There's also a musty smell that after doing some reading on your site seems may be able to be resolved with removing the drum and cleaning under it. I think the correct part to replace the seal is AP4439003, is there anything else that you think is needed? I see mentions of a clamp so I'm not sure if I need to purchase that as well. Appreciate the help

Answer

Rhea, it is common for the drain ports at the bottom of the door seal to become clogged, causing water to not drain from the seal properly. Replacing the seal will help with any mold or mildew that may have accumulated on it, and running a cleaning cycle while using Affresh W10549845 can help with cleaning the tub.
