Jason for Model Number DV331AEW/XAA How do I know if the drum support rollers have failed or are in need of replacement? I intend on replacing the idler wheel due to a squeaking sound. Can I lubricate the shaft that the idler wheel mounts upon? Can I lubricate or service the drum support rollers? Thanks
Answer Hello Jason, You will have to open the unit and spin the rollers to see if they spin freely. If not, they will require replacement. Never lubricate a roller inside a dryer with a wet lubricant since lint will stick to it and be pulled into the bearing, causing the bearing to fail sooner than if installed dry. These are impregnated with a dry lubricant from the manufacturer. If you absolutely insist on lubricating, use a dry lubricant like corn starch or baby powder since graphite will stain clothes should it find its' way into the load. Read More...
