Steve I have realized thehex screw holds the agitator to to shaft. This has worn down and needs replacement. I wanted to know if the inside of the agitator is grooved to match the shaft. These also may be worn so the entire agitator will have to be replaced. So the agitator would need both perfect grooves and new, longer set screw?
Answer Steve, You're on track. Yes the agitator does have internal splines on the bottom, that match and interlace with the splines of the metal agitator shaft, You shouldn't need another bolt, but once you have the agitator out, and check the splines , if they are rounded off or stripped flat, you will need a new agitator.
