This agitator base is the lower half of the two-piece agitator in many top-load washers. Mounted on the drive shaft, it works with the upper agitator/auger to circulate laundry and water, restoring consistent wash action when the original base is worn. What it does:

• Attaches to the transmission/drive shaft and rotates to move clothes through the wash water
• Provides the main fins/paddles that create agitation
• Works with the upper agitator/auger and cam assembly for proper dual-action washing

• Remove the fabric softener dispenser and inner cap, then remove the center agitator bolt; lift the agitator assembly off the shaft
• Separate the upper agitator from the old base; align splines and install the new base, then reassemble and tighten the center bolt
