Charles, if the water is sitting above the filter of the sump, it would be recommended that the drain hose and the connection points be inspected for any partial clogs. The drain hose would also need to be checked to ensure it has an upward loop sitting it above the connection point at the sink. However, if the water remaining is under the filter with about 1" of water at the very bottom, this is normal.
