Matt F for Model Number Maytag MAV408DAWW Maytag washer recently started to not spin during the spin cycle. I noticed that the tub would move clockwise/counterclockwise easily but I could turn clockwise a little further and it would get some tension from somewhere and start to spin during the spin cycle. The washer has gotten progressively louder during the past two weeks. As preventative maintenance and from suggestion on here I replaced the Thrust bearing, snubber ring, belt and tub springs. I thought I had the issue fixed after that repair but the loud noise has come back again as of last night and again the tub would spin clockwise/counterclockwise until I rotated clockwise into the "locking" position. What part might you suggest I replace in order to remedy this issue? Would I be able to get the seal nut off without the specialized tools?
Answer Matt, You will want to check the pump assembly to make sure that the pulley on the pump is spinning freely with no resistance. The other thing would be the tub bearing being bad and needing to be replaced. The seal nut can be taken off using a pipe wrench to grab ahold of it and turn it off. The part number that you would need is W10219156. Read More... Answered by AppliancePartsPros.com | Friday, March 20, 2015
