Dee A. for Model Number CW5500W My washer was making a lot of noise & grinding sound on the spin cycle. I was able to stop it for a while by re-balancing the load. Now it will no longer agitate at all. It fills & empties, will spin with terrible noise, but no agitation. Do I need to replace the entire transmission or is there another fix that I can try first?
Answer Dee, Before you replace the transmission, check the drive pulley and thrust bearing assembly 12002213. If or when the assembly gets distorted or damaged, and depending on how bad, there will be quite a bit of noise from the drive system and intermittent operation of the agitate and spin modes.
